Landscape of Kaohsiung

Image Kaohsiung

From the pioneering days of development to its current state, Kaohsiung has portrayed a unique urban character through its distinctive settlements, natural harbor environment, ancestral relics, and culture. However, people's footsteps can easily fade away with time, leaving fragmented memories and silent recollections. To recreate the tangible and intangible cultural images and urban character, and to preserve the precious assets and memories of Kaohsiung's growth, efforts have been made to capture these elements.

Since 2012, the Kaohsiung Film Archive has been commissioned to produce the "Image Kaohsiung" series of documentary films. Through the filming of the city's images, not only have precious tangible and intangible cultural assets from Kaohsiung's history been preserved, but also touching stories behind historical memories have been discovered. Internally, the unique audiovisual effects of these films help consolidate the local residents' sense of identity with the land. Externally, the films promote Kaohsiung's cultural landscapes through visual marketing, leading people to walk through the tunnels of time and catch glimpses of the city's special traditional industries, folk culture, and local characteristics, as showcased in the "Image Kaohsiung" documentary series.
