Kaohsiung Shorts
Kaohsiung Shorts Program
With the goal of establishing Kaohsiung as a hub for Taiwanese short films, the Kaohsiung Film Archive encourages short film creation and explores innovative works suitable for new media platforms such as the internet and mobile devices. In line with this vision, the Kaohsiung Film Archive has introduced the "Kaohsiung Shorts" Short Film Grant Program. The program aims to break norms, boundaries, and clichés, emphasizing the innovation of short film aesthetics and the application of new media. It encourages talented filmmakers to reside in Kaohsiung, using the city as a creative and conceptual space for their works. There are no restrictions on the format or theme of the films, allowing creators to unleash their creativity and showcase local characteristics.
The selected films are premiered in the "Kaohsiung Shorts" section during the film festival. Since 2015, the program has expanded internationally, bringing Kaohsiung short films to Hong Kong, France, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, and other countries. Collaborations with film festival organizers and local organizations have been initiated for screenings in these locations.
